loading up your blog with all of the free accessories that
you can find isn't necessarily a great idea.

Ok it may be tempting to add a visitor counter, a wild background, an exciting new font, and a whole whack of quirky animated gifs to your blog, this kind of Blog  bling can easily backfire. And this frankly is not how to use free blogging tools. The key to getting the most from free blog tools is thinking like a visitor. What will the visitor see when they show up ?

It is a great idea to learn how use free blogging tools that are available so that you can make an informed decision about what to add to your blog, but try to remember that just because you can have something doesn't mean that you need it.

Only choose the options that you think will really be of use.

If you can find out how many visitors are reading your blog by checking your traffic statistics, a visitor counter is likely to add unnecessary clutter to your page, stuff it on the bottom where no-one but you will see it.

If your blog is text-based, a wild background can be more of a distraction than an benefit. Distractions are bad when you're trying to direct a visitors attention to what you have to sell. You won't be making any money if the visitor is hypnotized by shiny objects.
So be realistic about what kinds of blog accessories will help you realize your vision of making money blogging and improve your site. Remember that even a blog tool that comes free  may not be an asset in the long run.

Why just these two? You want your visitors to be able to have more access to your site through their favorite feed readers. I recommend feed burner and you need the auto responder to capture their email addresses so you can send them offers or special reports or mini course. Or you can solicit their email address by offering them a mini course or special report. Go for the email address and build your list. By doing this you can send them emails and embed an affiliate marketing product or program in the article you send them. The money is in the list
